Lazy Evaluation Ltd has been registered in Scotland since 2012. It is the company through which Oliver Sturm teaches, speaks, writes and builds software, and the home of the open-source RDBMS Playground project.

The company
Lazy Evaluation Ltd was founded in 2012, as a sensible structure for the work at hand. In the early years it marketed training material and online courses to the developer community, some of it in the DevExpress ecosystem, some of it on broader topics around .NET development.
After Oliver was made Training Director at DevExpress in 2013, the company stepped back from actively selling its own courses. But Lazy Evaluation remained a home for the speaking, the writing, some long-standing consulting engagements, and the open-source work that had always gone on in the background.
Today the company is deliberately small and deliberately focused. It does a few things, and tries to do them properly.
The person behind it
oliversturm.com →Oliver Sturm has spent over thirty-five years as a software developer and architect, consultant, trainer, speaker and writer. He started with programming languages and functional programming and never quite stopped, though these days the work ranges just as happily across JavaScript, distributed systems, containers, and the architecture patterns (CQRS and Event Sourcing among them) that hold large systems together.
He gives keynotes, talks and workshops at international conferences across Europe and beyond, has written two books and, for two decades, a regular magazine column, and he looks after open-source projects. He works from a quiet corner of rural Scotland, which is exactly as good as it sounds.

Our open-source work is public, too. RDBMS Playground at relplay.org is a terminal playground that teaches relational-database fundamentals by letting you actually work with them, and Lazy Apps is an architecture-agnostic CQRS/Event-Sourcing framework in pure JavaScript, used to teach the architecture of distributed systems.
